Niksen: 1

 Niksen: 1

Reward and industry don’t always come hand in hand.

There’s so much on offer: too many alternatives. How do we keep up with the myriad offerings? AI has added to the clatter and clutter. ‘Art’ was once the fruitful product of inspired diligence: beyond inspiration you had to work at your craft. You needed tools too. A piece of paper and a pen. A paintbrush and a canvas. A voice and a microphone. All fostered by the foibles of flesh and blood. Talent needed a woodshed: somewhere to be nurtured. Now? All that’s required is attitude and an iPhone. Decide what you wannabe and feed AI’s magic box accordingly. A Tom Waits meets Coldplay vocal, with Emmylou, Ella and Taylor on BVs? Perchance a Hendrixesque solo? Ringo or Moony on drums? Both? Or maybe a 120 bpm dance-floor groove? The possibilities are endless. It’ll likely sound horrible but, hey-ho, it’ll disappear into the cosmos before you have to take responsibility for it. What’s my point? Out of confusion comes meaning.

Marcus and I have a new album: we’ve laboured long over it: worried and fussed it into form. It’s ready for you to listen to now. But we want there to be reward for our labour. The best way to create interest and anticipation is deferral. Not a ‘tease’. We just want to whet your appetite: to be sure that you don’t miss it before it’s gone. We want the album to have significance: to endure: not just to fizzle like a firework before disappearing into the ether. T’aint highfalutin to want the best for your work: for it to be seen and received in its best light; but reward and industry seldom come hand in hand. There are no expectations; but there is hope.

So… I’m here to tell you that Miracle Mile’s new album ‘Niksen’ is finished. And that its official release date is January 2028. 2028? Yup. But we have a plan. A plan that rewards interest and patience. Not cunning, but definitely considered. We are pretty excited about the prospect: which says a lot for a couple of veterans releasing their nth album. News won’t be too drip-fed. I’ll keep you well posted here. Not too many words: I promise.
Perhaps you are impatient: perhaps indifferent. Hopefully I’ve piqued your interest. When you do finally receive the album, it’ll look like this:
