Albums for Life: 36: Jeff Buckley: Grace

This is our last goodbye
I hate to feel the love between us die
But it's over
Just hear this and then I'll go
You gave me more to live for
More than you'll ever know

I still get a little choked when I listen to this.
What a wonderful, spiraling voice.
He knew how to reign things in and he knew how to let things go; no lazy or affected histrionics, just perfectly pitched passion.
So much left unsaid.
Enough said...
Here are two songs from 'Grace' followed by a restrained stunner that you might not have heard from the posthumous hodgepodge that was 'Sketches for my Sweetheart the Drunk'.
It's then followed by a great BBC4 documentary where the world and Brad Pitt gushes along.

  1. This has wound up in my 'below zero' list. i don't want to listen to it now or it will start trying to rise up. Too late, though, I can hear it without playing it. Transcendental.

  2. 'Transcendental'.
That was the word I was groping for... I could only reach 'spiraling'...
I need more some of that 'Thesaurus Toilet paper...

  3. Every now and again music throws up a story that transcends. This is one of those storys. A sublime talent cut down so short. A brilliant album. Live at Sine E is my favourite Live album. Just one man, his Telecaster and THAT voice.
