Lovesong: James Grant: My Father's Coat

I've admired James Grant since his Friends Again days, was a little underwhelmed by Love and Money, but got back onboard with the sublime 'Sawdust in Our Veins'.
Thanks to Phil Duncan who reminded me of this gem from Grant's 'Strange Flowers' album.

It's interesting to see how some narrative driven videos endure; this might be a little over wrought for some, but I love the noir drama of it all; the great faces of the father and son; not to mention the cracking Crombie that Jimbo's wearing...
Oh, and am I allowed to say that the girl with the boa feathers has a shapely derriere?
There must be bromine in that man's beer.
Also Bazza's right, maybe solos are making a comeback; here we a harmonica and a smoking guitar...

  1. Quite the polished video, bleak as it may be... When are you going to make a nifty bleak video???
Underwhelmed by L&M? Boy, do we see differently on this one... Maybe you ain't FUNKY! Better than Spandau Ballet, ABC, Level 42, Hipsway et al.
Jocelyn Square, Strange Kind Of Love, Avalanche, Winter, Give Up, Last Ship, Lips Like Ether still sound pretty fine to me.

  3. I'm being reprimanded left, right and centre about the butt and indifference to L&M.
I think that I need to lock myself in a dark room and re-assess both again...

  4. Hey, no scolding from me. I appreciate difference of taste and opinion. We're an awfully polite lot around here. And verbal sparring is fun, isn't it? Still waiting for someone to spit out "fookin' wankers" or blooody rubbish"...

PS: Seriously, I really think you outta think about losing your video virginity! We have the cheap technology, Youtube is free, and you're still a photogenic guy, with that bloody perfect mop of hair, soulful eyes, pensive scowl... a new project for Di!!!
